Portrait of Sri Katikaneni Purushothamarao
A 16″ x 20″ oil portrait from photograph.
After I transferred the image to canvas, I painted the value scale in black and white. This gives me the freedom to mix my colors and values when i paint in color. This is called Grisaille method the academic way. The first step is blocking in, like mapping. The second stage is working on details. Third stage will be color layer. I have my pallet ready with the Dark, medium and the lights of skin tonal values. I can get 3 more in between values by mixing these values i have on my pallet.

Sculpture in Oil
Figurative art is a form of artwork that has existed for thousands of years in cultures all around the world.
Figurative art refers to any form of art that clearly represents an image from the real world. Figurative art, beginning in antiquity, has a lineage that runs through many schools of modern and contemporary art. Though the term figurative art commonly refers to art that has the human figure or animal figures as its subject, the term can also be used in the more general sense of distinguishing representational art from abstract art.
Standing in a row
Still life art is a universal genre that most visual artists have worked in. Commonplace inanimate objects purposefully arranged to emphasize texture, color, and composition have made still life art the perfect teaching tool for beginning artists and a way for professionals to hone their skills. Still life art is a pictorial work of art depicting an arrangement of inanimate subjects–often domestic, such as plants, food, dishes, vases, birds and so on.
The story behind this painting:
While i am doing my reguler chores, I got ready to cut onions to make curry. Unexpetingly the onions i set for cutting were spread out in a row and looked painterly. So i decided to paint that scene. I took photographs and started sketching. That day no cooking!! Ended up Ordering food from out side. I guess this is how a painters life will be!!!
T V RAO mama
Unfortunately I happen to paint this after the demise of Prof T. Venugopalarao mama. Aunty was so down after his demise and i wanted to give her something which she will be happy about. What else it will be other than his memories!
When I completed this and send it to her, she said “Felt like Venu is coming in”
that was the best comment i heard! Thank you aunty.
Painting portraits is said to be a intricate genre of fine arts. The making of a self portrait is already challenging itself because of the challenge it entails to paint someone’s figure. What makes this more difficult is the truth that a self portrait should realize the character, inner life, and irreconcilability of the subject.
In spite of being puzzling, a lot of portrait artists confess that portrait paintings is their loved genre. A painted portrait discloses their effort and gives emphasis to their invested time and effort on something that is thought of by many as a masterpiece. As they paint a painted portrait of a friend, a group of individuals, or a portrait of sweethearts, they view themselves as binders of affection and a means of perpetuating care and romance. Portrait artists are, in fact, called as preservers of life’s elegance.
Portrait artists bring you amazing lifelike portraits. A pleasant oil painting portrait is a good investment of your money. There is a sense of style and life in every photo and this is what a portrait artist gets to see as they create a lasting oil painting portrait for you.
